Bloggers' Quilt Festival::Spring 2012

This year I decided to take part in this quilt festival hosted by Amy's Creative Side. You can find many fantastic quilts for your inspiration on her side. Just jump over there, and have a great time!

I picked my first made hexagon quilt for this festival. It's made some years ago, and I just started with some hexagon paper I got from a friend. I soon found out that I couldn't stop making these. I had no pattern, and the quilt just grew along the way. When I had finished something I could call a pattern, I didn't know at all how to quilt it. I started out hand quilting around each hexagon, and had to finish it like that. To keep up the spirit, I decided to quilt around two hexies every day, and made a cross in my calendar. That way I knew when this quilt was going to be ready. And the best thing of all, I kept up the work and ended just before midnight the day I had expected. The quilt size is about 51x61", all hand sewn and hand quilted.

As I said, if you start, you'll never end making these. I have made some other handsewn quilt as well, and have many in progress, from 1/4" hexies, to other shapes of the paper.
